#EachforEqual at TSA
To mark the occasion of International Women’s Day 2020 #IWD2020 #EachforEqual, we are pleased to announce two initiatives that TSA Group is rolling out across all of our sites, focussed on improving the accessibility of our workplace for women in practical ways.
The scourge of domestic and family violence that affects our communities is one which shames us all, and it has major health and welfare impacts that are often lifelong for both victims and perpetrators. In Australia, more than 1 woman is killed each week by her partner or former partner. So far in 2020, 9 women have been killed in this way, and on an average day, police deal with over 613 domestic violence matters across the country. In the Philippines, 1 in 4 married women have been assaulted by their partner or husband. These statistics are confronting, and they are a call to action for business, government, community groups and individuals to work together to address.
TSA Group is committed to providing a genuinely safe and supportive workplace for all of our team members, especially those experiencing family and domestic violence. I’m proud to announce that, from today, all TSA Group team members will be able to access 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave per year. While we sincerely hope that none of our team members will ever have to access this leave, we are ready to support them if they do.
We’re also committed to enabling our team members with caring responsibilities to seamlessly transition back into work after a period of parental leave, and we’re always looking for practical ways to make this transition easier. So, I’m also pleased to announce that from today, all of our sites have a designated Parents Room, providing team members with a comfortable, clean and safe space to express.
Finally, I encourage all of you to take time to reflect on how your individual actions, conversations, behaviours and mindsets can help to achieve a gender equal workplace, society and world.
