This Pride Month, we’re excited to bring into focus TSA Pride, our vibrant employee-led group that champions the voices of LGBTQIA+ members and allies. When it comes to our culture, we have a strong ethos that everyone belongs. TSA Pride embodies this commitment by facilitating meaningful conversations, providing educational opportunities, and ensuring that every voice is not only heard but valued.


The importance of allyship and advocates

Bringing your all to work isn’t just about the efforts you put in but feeling safe to bring your whole self to the forefront. Here, we strive to create a workplace where everyone feels secure and empowered to be authentic without hesitation. TSA Pride amplifies the importance of allyship by supporting employees through key milestones such as name changes and promoting awareness of essential resources and support services like Minus18 and QLife. 
Through educating the broader TSA community about key LGBTQIA+ dates, the historical context of these events, and current issues impacting the LGBTQIA+ community, TSA Pride enables all employees to better understand and support their colleagues. By building a deeper understanding and acceptance of diverse identities, together with TSA Pride, we’re creating a more cohesive and supportive workplace for everyone.

“Growing up in a homophobic and transphobic household meant that I was unable to live authentically for far too many years of my adolescent and adult life. My hope is that, someday, nobody will have to experience this.
At TSA, I’ve found a place where I can be myself. Through their support and advocacy, TSA Pride has helped to build better understanding and acceptance among my colleagues. Many workplaces aren’t as diverse and accepting as TSA when it comes to LGBTQIA+ inclusiveness, but they should be.”

“As a child of the 80s, from a town of only a couple of thousand in the coastal north of NSW, I’ve had a complicated relationship with my Pride. Spending my teenage years as “one of the queers”, while not even self-aware of my sexuality, at an all-boys boarding school, encouraged me to be anything but proud of who I was and to quiet myself and smother my personality. Joining TSA Pride in my 30s has been an instrumental part of my own personal growth and an immensely positive step in the development of my relationship with Pride.
